About
Hi my name is Lupe Moreno and these are my blogs for my English class. These blogs were my free write within the class, they allowed me to be more open about the topics we would talk about which helped me figure out what my best or most interesting were. Along with them I have included the projects that we had in class and the essays that go along with them. I feel as if they show the progress I had as the class went along, hopefully you enjoy them.

Fairy tales are past down from generation to generation in order to teach children that the world can be a dangerous place, certain behavior is tolerated and some isn’t, and that some people protect you, and some will hurt you. As time goes on bits and parts of the fairy tale change but they seem to have the same meaning and moral to them even if the story goes from a gruesome ending to happy one back to a gruesome ending. Although these fairy tales are now beign sugar coated by society and blocking away most of the situations that are in fact more realistic. For example the Disney movies based on the fairy tales give the main character a perfect ending which does not always occur, it seems to prevent the child from acquiring real knowledge of the world. Parents may say they rather have the sugar coated version because they don't want to ruin the child's innocent mind but now children see worst things on shows and movies even without the parents knowledge of it. The best thing to do is have the parent tell them themselves about life instead of other people doing it themselves, so maybe the best thing is to stop sugar coating certain things and be straight up with them and prevent the confusion and shock of hearing different information. People have many different opinions but at times you have to take the time to be more open minded.

compare and contrast
Now that I've seen the movie Water for Elephants again and actually remember every part of it not only fragments, I can clearly see the differences between the it and the novel. The movie was put into a completely different order compared to the novel, certain scenes where put before others and some were simply
excluded. Not only is the whole plot of story changed, many little details that make the novel what it is and what gives it its special meaning have also changed. The most important information that was exclude from the movie that I felt like was completely necessary to be present was the fact that August was paranoid schizophrenic, because the first time I ever watched the movie I never knew why it was he acted the way he did, I probably thought he just had anger issues. When I finally read the novel, I realized that he was ill from his mind which for me completely explained many things. Some people could have maybe caught on to his problem in the movie but not all. Also many of the differences and discrimination that was involved in the circus and shown in the novel was not quite as vibrant. Those type of actions lead or provided background for many scenes that occurred, for instance the part where Jacob being Polish and August being Jewish could have affected their relationship. Or simply Marlena's story in how she met August, married him, and then was disowned because he was Jewish and she was Christian, little details like those is what changes the affect, impact, and story behind the movie. If I had never read the novel I wouldn't have discovered the new information that completed the story for me and in fact changed it. I would have kept thinking it was such a good movie which it is but in my mind the novel changed some those opinions for me, and once you've read the novel it is sometimes difficult to admire the movie as for the novel can always be more vivid and bring things to life better than a movie.

Counteragrument
As I did my thesis worksheet I was thinking based on my argument, what would be a good counterargument. Seeing how I was basing my argument on the way people are treated by others in certain places where they I guess you can say "don't belong", for example high class stores. From the observations of the experiment my group and I made, people that don't quite look the part are not really welcomed in these high class stores. I observed many rude and at times obvious actions made by the store employees which was offense, because just because my clothes wasn't fancy and I was a teen, did not quite mean I was not able to afford the products or was already a loyal costumer. Wondering what the employees would say to excuse their actions I asked y sister to put herself in their shoes and tell me what she would say if asked a question like mine. Her opinion was real helpful and allowed me to come up with pretty good reasons which could help me have a none bias argument as well as make it stronger. I believe they would possibly give an answer like, as a designer store our top priority here is to protect our store products and reputation, causing us to be completely aware of all customers. Although from experience we can tel which costumer is truly going to purchase a product or just glance around the store, so we put more effort into those that will benefit the store. I think they can also come up with the fact that people are coming in the store with the mentality that they are out of place and because of that they will be treated different, so any little motion causes them to believe that they actually are being treated different. There could possibly be more reasons then these but so far those two are my strongest counterarguments, although I hope as I go along working with the essay I'll be able to come up with better ideas.

Space affected by us...
Space can affect a person as well as a person affect the space they are in or around. There are times where a person can be well educated, rich, possibly even famous in certain circles but they way they are portrayed or they portray themselves actually affects they are treated in certain places. The treatment maybe unfair or unnecessary but it shows how anyone can affect the way they are treated depending where they are and how they act. In the movie, Why Did I Get Married ? by Tyler Perry, four black, highly educated and wealthy women go on a vacation to a cabin. While the four women are there they go shopping and end up having an argument at one of the stores they were in, thus causing one of the employees to approach them and warn them that they do not carry any cash in the store. That was the same employee that followed them around the store since the moment they walked into the store, to show the women in action I attached a small video clip. Even though it's merely an example from a movie, they are situations that occur in real life whether the person is dressed wealthy in a space of wealth to a regular person who can simply be shopping for utilities. Many people are followed for no reason only because the employee believes they are trouble when in truth it's ridiculous. Unless the person shows reasons to be worried about there should be no necessity to this type of actions in a work place or any space. A person can affect space in any matter and at times without knowing it, they can affect it in the wrong way unfortunately they are actions a person has to deal with at times whether they wish to or not. Especially when these type of situations have been occurring for a long time and will probably continue to occur.
